In 2018, the tests for Down Syndrome once again caused controversy, especially because of Sally Phillips and her documentary "A world without Down's Syndrome?". High accuracy of tests and disease detection, according to Phillips, can lead to a situation in which people will not decide to give birth to babies with Down's Syndrome and therefore, the number of people with Down's Syndrome risks to decrease. The author of the documentary claims that children with Down's Syndrome can live happily and that today's world offers them more opportunities than ever before.
Tests, however, despite high accuracy, are not able to show which kind of disabilities a child will be born with - amongst the most common ones are sight defects or heart problems. None of those however, affects their ability to experience emotions. They are able to feel and give their feelings away.
